LAN topologies

LANs can be classified by their topologies:

• Bus - e.g. the original Ethernet

• Ring - e.g. Token Ring and FDDI

• Star - e.g. twisted pair Ethernet and ATM LANs

• Wireless LAN (WLAN) - radio or infra red
