What is an intranet?
Intranet is an internal corporate network based on Internet technology
Intranet makes it easy to use all the standard services of the Internet, such as:
- World Wide Web (WWW)
- Electronic mail (E-mail)
- File transfer (FTP)
- Remote sessions (Telnet etc.)
- many others
Intranet is typically connected to the Internet via a firewall which controls access from the Internet to the intranet
