ATM LANE
LAN Emulation Control Server (LECS) is the point, where end systems can obtain configuration and ELAN information
When a LEC is started up, it locates the LECS and creates an ATM connection to it by one of the following techniques:
- Examining a table by using the Interim Local Management Interface (ILMI, SNMP over ATM, VPI=0, VCI=16)
- Using a well known ATM address
- Using the reserved PCV (0,17)
LEC then sends to LECS a Configuration Request frame, including its ATM address, MAC address and LAN type
LECS returns a reply including MAC address and LAN type of the LES
LEC now has all the information it needs to register to LES and can terminate the connection to LECS
