• UNI 4.0 provides the signaling procedures for dynamically establishing, maintaining and clearing ATM connections at the ATM User-Network Interface

• UNI 4.0 applies both to Public and Private UNI

• UNI 4.0 is defined in the ATMF document: ATM User-Network Interface (UNI) Signaling Specification, version 4.0, June 1996

• UNI 4.0 has a lot of added functionality compares with 3.1
