*********************************************************************
The annual PPIG (Psychology of Programming Interest Group) workshop
is a forum in which researchers concerned with psychological aspects
of software development can present and discuss recent results,
findings and developments. PPIG entertains a broad spectrum of
research approaches and is equally concerned with all aspects of
programming and software engineering. PPIG aims to bring together
people working in a variety of disciplines and to break down
cross-disciplinary barriers.
PPIG'07 will be arranged in the tradition of earlier PPIG workshops:
interesting presentations on fully developed research and on exciting
on-going projects, a doctoral consortium, and with ample time for
discussions among attendees. There will also be new activities:
exciting tutorials and the new PPIG Challenge:
* Keynotes:
- Francoise Detienne (INRIA, France): A multidimensional
framework for analysing collaborative design: emergence
and balance of roles
- Marian Petre (Open University, U.K.): Expert strategies for
dealing with complex and intractable problems
* Tutorials:
- Eye-tracking and its applications in studies of programming
- Qualitative research: grounded theory and phenomenography,
what, how, and when to use them
- Roles of variables and their use in programming education
* Special discussion: Children's mental/operational models of
programming -- Do children's programming tools miss something?
* Paper Sessions
* PPIG Challenge
* Doctoral Consortium
* Social programme including a half-day trip to the the great
orthodox monastery of East Finland
The workshop will be located at Joensuu in the Lake District
area of Finland and easily reached from Helsinki by air or by rail.
Duration of travel, about 50 minutes by air, 4-5 hours by rail.
